ING Direct 3 Day Only Black Friday Bonus

Rather than spend a lot of money this Black Friday weekend, ING Direct is offering up a different suggestion.  For three days only, ING Direct is enticing new customers to save money (instead of spending it) by giving cash bonuses for new deposit accounts.  Not all deposit accounts qualify for this promotion and its available for a very limited time (November 25th November 27th).

In order to qualify for the cash bonus, you must sign up for one of the three following accounts:

The ING Direct Electric Orange checking account is a fee free account which many consumers have turned to in the wake of minimum balance and debit card fee charges.  During this promo, all new account holders will earn a $107 cash bonus after following one important rule:

Your cash bonus will appear in the account on day 50, at which point the terms of the bonus are concluded.  You can use that money for anything youd like and all money saved within an Electric Orange checking account will receive interest according to the below tier structure.

Cash Balance Interest Rate

$0 – $49,9990.20% $50,000 – $99,9990.95% $100,000+1.00%

Somewhat new to the list of ING Direct products is their kids savings account.  Parents of young children have the option to get their kids excited about saving money by opening one of these accounts, and for three days only a cash bonus of $27 will be offered.  In order to qualify, certain criteria must be met.

  • Only available when you open a new account with at least one new Customer (either you or the kiddo)
  • $27 bonus starts earning interest upon account opening, and is available for withdrawal after 30 days

Finally, the newest of all accounts offered by ING Direct; MONEY is designed for teenage account holders.  Parents have control over the limits and uses of their teens debit card and just like the ING Direct savings account, all money deposited earns interest.   In order to receive the $32 cash bonus, you must:

I dont know where ING Direct comes up with their quirky cash bonus amounts but I know Ill finally be signing up for an Electric Orange checking account to take advantage of the $107 bonus.  Time to move away from my $6 a month Chase checking account fees and give these guys a try.  No promo code is needed to take advantage of any cash bonus; ING Direct will do all the work.

White Men Still Get Most of Wall Street Pay

Hire Wire Dec 02 2011 By Sumathi Reddy

There are fewer white men in the increasingly diverse financial industry, but they still take home the bulk of Wall Street’s money, according to a report set to be released Friday.

In some cases, white men on Wall Street earned more than twice as much annually as other ethnic groups, and their median earnings shot up 15%, to about $154,500, between the 2000 federal Census and the 2005 to 2009 American Communities Survey, the report said.

“The Progress and Pitfalls of Diversity on Wall Street”—a report conducted by the City University of New York’s Center for Urban Research—examined U.S. Census Bureau data. It showed that white men made up about 54% of Wall Street’s workforce in 2005 to 2009, down from about 57% in 2000.

Be Frugal Like a Muppet

I’m so excited this week is finally here, and it’s not because of the large quantities of turkey and pumpkin pie I’ll be consuming on Thursday. No, this week is the best week of the year because my childhood friends are back.

That’s right—“The Muppets” is premiering this week!

The whole gang will be there, from Kermit and Miss Piggy to Sweetums and Crazy Harry, and you know you can’t wait to spend two glorious hours reminiscing with all of them.

The Muppets’ comeback also has me reminiscing about their other great big-screen moments. And I realized (being a personal finance blogger and Muppet fan, of course), that these Muppets sure are frugal. Here are a few particularly frugal Muppet moments, and how you can make them work in your life, too.

Frugal Vacationing

In “The Muppet Movie,” Kermit and the gang drive cross-country to pursue their dreams in Hollywood and pick up a new Muppet or two at each stop. They know how to pinc
